Governor Polis Announced Minturn as a grant recipient for the Revitalizing main Streets grant award in the amount of $250,000 which will go toward improving safe access from north Minturn to Main Street via Railroad Ave. This will include the creation of a sidewalk, stop signs, bulb out and traffic calming. Construction will begin in the summer of 2024.

Minturn seeks to enhance the pedestrian network in north Minturn from Railroad Ave. and Main St. to fill a critical sidewalk gap between the downtown and the Town’s only municipal parking lot and along Railroad Ave, which has presented safety concerns like limited line of sight, poor nighttime lighting, vehicles rolling through stop signs and speeding. Enhancing the pedestrian network to downtown will increase multimodal options for residents and provide safe access between the economic core and surrounding residential areas. The expected completion for this project is October / November 2024.

Minturn seeks $225,000 matched with $25,000 in matching funds to construct pedestrian infrastructure from the Bellm Bridge along the intersection of Railroad Avenue, Eagle River Street, and Main Street to Minturn Road, along Railroad Avenue. All project activities will take place within Town-owned right of way. With CDOT funding, the Town will complete the following improvements along the roadway segment between Bellm Bridge and Minturn Road:

   i. Construct 3,280 sf of ADA-compliant 5’ asphalt sidewalk with CDOT Type 2 parallel curb ramps, expansion of an existing curb extension, and wood fencing
ii. Establish 700 sf of 6’ asphalt sidewalk across the Union Pacific railroad tracks with truncated domes at crossing
iii. Install traffic calming measures, including a speedbump, 1,168 lf of white striping, reflective paint, and pavement markings for two pedestrian crosswalks
iv. Re-install signage at appropriate intersections and lanes, and
   v. Relocate the existing fire hydrant and repair landscaping.
Minturn is also working to identify future improvements and partnerships, such as a blub-outs and signage along state-owned right-of-way, to enhance active transportation safety to and through the Town's main economic hub.

PLEASE NOTE IN THE MAP BELOW, THE BULB-OUT AT THE SOUTHERN END OF THE MAP, NEXT TO MINTURN ANGLERS, IS NOT GOING TO BE INSTALLED.
