Municipal Court

COURT PROCESS UPDATE - Municipal Court Appearances and Observation:

Minturn Municipal Court is currently offering Virtual Court options for defendants who live outside of the area.  You MUST contact the court prior to your appearance, to advise if you will be appearing in person or virtually.  The court will be using the Zoom online platform, and will share the necessary information with defendants prior to their court date.  In-person court appearances are still welcome.  It is the responsibility of the defendant to contact the court to request a virtual appearance.  The Zoom link information will be provided once arrangements are made with the court clerk.

Arraignments are normally held in the Minturn Municipal Court, 302 Pine St, Minturn, Colorado.  Do not come to this address if you have made arrangements with the court for a virtual appearance. Your Arraignment will be held via ZOOM, unless other arrangements have been made in advance. You will need to use a computer or smart phone to connect remotely and thereby meet with the prosecutor and appear before the judge via Zoom at your scheduled time.  Prior to your arraignment date, please first read and review your Advisement of Rights HERE.  Please contact the Court Clerk with questions, call (970) 827-5645,x5 or email: courtclerk@mminturn.org.

Defendants may also request a plea by mail if their case is not a "Court Required" case.  In order to start this process the defendant must contact the Clerk of Court and provide a current working telephone number and email address prior to their court date.  Should a defendant fail to enter into a plea by mail agreement prior their scheduled court date, such defendant must appear in court on their scheduled court date at the scheduled time. Failure to appear/enter into a plea by mail may result in a bench warrant.

The Court would like to remind defendants that traffic citations paid within 20 days receive a points reduction of 1 point for violations of 3 or less points, and a reduction of 2 points for a violation of 4 or more points.

Remote Observation of Court Proceedings:

Any individual requesting to observe a criminal proceeding remotely may complete a request by emailing the Court Clerk.  Request must be received at least 30 days prior to the scheduled court date.

Parking Citations:

The Court would like to remind recipients of standard parking citations that if the ticket is paid within the first 20 days of receipt, the ticket cost is reduced by $20 (making it $30 vs. $50).  This does not apply to illegally parking in a disabled parking spot.  If parking citations are more than 90 days past due, they will be submitted to collections.

In addition, there are no holiday exemptions for parking citations.

Updates will be posted if and when changes are made to this process.  Please call the Court Clerk directly with any questions.  Thank you!
