SH 24 BATTLE MOUNTAIN CHIP SEAL PROJECT AUGUST 2-SEPTEMBER 3, 2010

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is scheduled to begin a chip seal project along US Highway 24 from Mile Post (MP) 147.18 to Mile Post 169.0.  The project is expected to last through September 3, 2010.  As a result of this road project, CDOT will have single lane closures throughout this time period.

In addition, there will be reduced speed limits during the active time of road work. 

The Minturn Police Department is requesting that you abide by the reduced speed requirements to help ensure the safety of the construction workers as well as other motorists.  The reduced speed limits will be strictly enforced.

Please be patient during the road construction as when the project has been completed, the road will be more driver friendly.

THE TOWN OF MINTURN IS SEEKING APPLICANTS TO SERVE ON THE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION

The Position: the Planning and Zoning Commission reviews and approves design review applications and development proposals based upon the Town’s adopted criteria and ordinances.  The Commission also works on updates to the Town’s community plan, zoning ordinances and acts as an advisory body to the Town Council on a variety of planning issues.  This is a voluntary position that pays $75.00 per meeting.  The Planning and Zoning Commission meets twice a month, 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month at 7:00 PM at the Minturn Town hall.  To be considered for this position, applicants must be a resident of the Town of Minturn for one year and a registered elector of the Town of Minturn.

Building Official and Inspection Services - Request for Proposal

     The Town of Minturn is accepting written proposals from qualified consultation firms engaged in providing building department administrative and technical support services, including general administrative consultation, plans examining, and job site inspections. 

Proposal Deadline

Consultant proposals are due no later than 5:00 p.m. March 1, 2010.  Proposals may be submitted in electronic format, via U.S. Mail or in person. Please direct questions to Jim White at 970.827.5645 manager@minturn.org


 

Base Commercial and Residential water rates will not be changing for the Fiscal Year 2010.

However, the Residential base use allowance will change from the current 15,000 gallons per month to 10,000 gallons per month. This change will be effective January 1, 2010.

Dowd Junction to Minturn Trail Phase I

Sealed Bids for Construction of a 1,300 foot long, 10 foot wide asphalt trail along Highway 24 will be received by the Town of Minturn at the town offices at 302 Pine Street, Minturn, Colorado 81645, until 3:00 p.m. local time on Monday, August 24, 2009 at which time they will be opened and read aloud. A Mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting will be held at the same offices on Monday, August 17, 2009 at 3:00 p.m.

The bid information package, including the Bid Specifications and Construction Plan Set, may be obtained by downloading from this site (see following links) or from the Town of Minturn offices at 302 Pine Street, Minturn. Notice: IF BID INFORMATION IS DOWNLOADED FROM THIS SITE, YOU ARE REQUIRED TO SEND A NOTIFICATION OF THE DOWNLOAD VIA EMAIL to planner1@minturn.org. This will enable the Town to accurately prepare a Plan Holder’s List. A hard copy Plan Holder’s List will also be available at the Town of Minturn offices for parties obtaining hard copy sets of the bid information package. Parties on the Plan Holder’s List will be notified of any new project information and receive addendums.

ECO Trails is assisting the Town of Minturn for the Dowd to Minturn Trail Phase I Trail project, scheduled for construction in August, 2009. The Town of Minturn is seeking professional services assistance for the project as follows:

2009 Minturn Community Plan

Minturn has begun the process of updating its Community Plan. This document will outline the Town’s vision for the next 20 to 30 years - outlining goals, objectives and action plans for obtaining that vision. When completed, it will serve as the over-arching advisory document helping to inform Town decisions on a number of topics including:

  • Community Character
  • Sustainability and Green Building Practices
  • Land Use
  • Transportation
  • Housing
  • Public Services and Facilities
  • Economic Development
  • Natural Resources
  • Parks and Recreation

Community Plan Open Houses – February 2009

The Minturn community has spent considerable energy in the past several years in determining what it wants for the Town’s future – Please join us at the Community Center in the month of February to help finalize this input in preparation for the creation of the 2009 Community Plan.

• Thursday, February 5 – Community Vision
This will be an a very interactive meeting where we will discuss what you see in the future of the Town.  Everything is on the table for discussion.  The goal for the evening will be to develop a consensus vision statement for the 2009 Community Plan which embodies the essence of where the Town is headed in the next 10, 20 and 30 years.

• Thursday, February 19 – Plan Goals and Objectives

Join Town staff to review draft goals and objectives for all Community Plan topic areas (above).

Both meetings will be from 6 to 8 in the evening, refreshments will be served.

Invites You to attend the October 14, 2008
Town Parking Plan Meeting

(302 Pine Street, Minturn ~ 6 pm).

At this meeting, the public is invited to discuss the new parking plan that was ap- proved by Town Council in August, 2008. This will provide an opportunity for local citizens and businesses to meet with town staff to ask questions and voice their concerns regarding this plan. Town staff including members from the Police Depart- ment and the Public Works Department will be present to answer questions and concerns.

A proposed budget has been submitted to the Town of Minturn Town Council for the ensuing year of 2009

A copy of such proposed budget has been filed in the office of the Town Treasurer, where the same is open for public inspection during regular business hours; such proposed budget will be considered at 302 Pine St. in the Town Council Chambers at 7pm as follows:

October 15th Council Meeting
November 5th Council Meeting

Any interested elector of the Town of Minturn may inspect the proposed budget and file or register any objections thereto at any time prior to the final adoption of the budget.  Final adoption is scheduled for December 3, 2008.
